Institute for Russia and Eastern Europe - Promoting multilateral cultural cooperation

The Institute for Russia and Eastern Europe is an international support unit subordinate to Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture. The Institute’s mission is to enhance mutual understanding between European countries by promoting multilateral cultural co-operation between EU countries and Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

Our core activities revolve around culture and the creative economy, social integration, and library and information services. Our strengths are good national and international networks, and personnel with proficient language skills.

The values that guide our work are co-operation, bridge-building, innovation, high performance, and promoting an ‘everybody wins’ attitude.

Around 70 cultural experts from different countries and various multilateral organisations convened at Vapriikki Museum Centre in Tampere to discuss the Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture. The participants came from the Nordic countries, Russia and other countries from the Baltic Sea Region.
