The global economic crisis has undermined growth and threatens to set back many of the gains of the past decade in many Eastern European developing countries. The crisis has affected many fields of the society: economy, cultural life and social matters. The unknown Belarus has an unrevealed potential that has not yet been fully capitalized - an advantageous geographical position, a well-developed infrastructure, a strong research and technological potential. On the other hand, there are also challenges to be overcome.

The seminar will provide general information on Belarus, latest economic review, information on investment possibilities as well as trends and viewpoints of cultural life. The event is open to Finnish companies and organisations. The seminar is organized by the Institute for Russia and Eastern Europe. The moderator of the seminar is Mr. Niklas Pohjanvirta.
